India Post GDS Recruitment 2026: Apply Online for BPM, ABPM & Dak Sevak Posts Total Posts 23757

India Post has released the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement Schedule-II, July-2026 notification for engagement to the posts of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak in different offices of the Department of Posts. The notification has been issued by the Department of Posts under the Ministry of Communications.

As per the notification, the One-Time Registration will start from 31 August 2026, while candidates can submit the online application form from 02 September 2026 to 21 September 2026. The selection will be made through a system-generated merit list based on Class 10th marks, so there will be no written examination for selection under this process.

Age Limit

The candidate’s age should be:

• EWS: No relaxation
• PwBD: 10 years

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed the Secondary School Examination (Class 10th) from a recognized Board with passing marks in Mathematics and English.

The qualification must be from a recognized Board of School Education under the Government of India, State Governments or Union Territories.

The notification also requires candidates to have studied the local language prescribed for the relevant Circle at least up to Class 10th.

Other Qualifications

Candidates should also have:

• Knowledge of computer

• Knowledge of cycling

• Adequate means of livelihood

These requirements are mentioned as additional qualifications for GDS engagement.

India Post GDS Salary 2026

GDS employees are paid Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA). The notification states that TRCA carries an annual increase of 3%, subject to the applicable conditions. GDS employees are also entitled to Dearness Allowance and certain other allowances and social-security benefits.

The basic TRCA slabs mentioned in the notification are:

• BPM: ₹12,000 to ₹29,380
• ABPM/Dak Sevak: ₹10,000 to ₹24,470

The notification also mentions benefits such as GDS Gratuity and Service Discharge Benefit Scheme.

Shortlisted candidates have to appear before the designated authority for physical verification.

Candidates should carry the original documents along with two sets of self-attested photocopies, as applicable:

• Class 10th Marksheet

• Identity Proof

• Caste Certificate

• PwBD Certificate

• EWS Certificate

• Transgender Certificate

• Date of Birth Proof

• Medical Certificate

• Relevant local/tribal language certificate wherever applicable

The medical certificate issued by a medical officer of a Government Hospital, Government Dispensary, Government Primary Health Centre, etc. is compulsory.
